History of Udgir
Udgir is famous for the historical war between the Marathas and the Nizams. The war was held in 1759 and was lead by Sadashivrao Bhau who defeated the Nizam and got Udgir back. Considering this valuable contribution, the Peshwas of Pune made Sadashivrao as the chief commander of Maratha Army for the Third Battle of Panipat which was fought in 1761. Udgir was under the Nizams until 1948; part of state of Hyderabad between 1948 and 1956 and then it was annexed with the entire Marathawada to Bombay.Geography of Udgir
